Narrative Summary
Summary
The Fort Mill School District Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on August 5, 2025, with all seven members present. The meeting centered on two significant topics: an independent environmental health and safety assessment by Citadel EHS addressing community concerns about the proximity of the Silfab Solar facility to Flint Hill Elementary and Middle Schools, and an opening-of-school report from Superintendent Grey Young reflecting strong enrollment growth. The district reported 18,024 students enrolled as of August 5, an increase of 288 students over the prior year's first day, with Flint Hill Elementary opening as a new school site. The board also received a fiscal year-end financial report, heard a first reading of an updated parent organizations policy, and approved 23 certified staff positions following a two-hour executive session.
